  3. Kochel, Ludwig von (1800-1877)  Austrian scholar who compiled a catalogue of
  4. Mozart's works (published 1862) that has become standard. Such works are now
  5. referred to as K (followed by a number). The German usage is sometimes K.V.,
  6. for Kochel-Verzeichnis, i.e., Kachel Index. (The latest revision of this
  7. catalogue was issued in 1964.)
